Why did you join the Zeta Chi Alumnae Association (ZXAA)?  I wanted to support the Zeta Chi chapter and reconnect with my sorority sisters.

What ZXAA events have you attended?  What did you enjoy about attending the events?  Founders Day 2018 was the last event that I attended. It was terrific to meet some of the current members of the chapter, reconnect with old friends, and finally meet my grand little sister, Diane Kemper Williams. I was also honored to meet our International Grand President, Emily Erkel.

What is your favorite memory about ADPi? I have lots of memories, including pulling off rush the semester after our founding, participating in Sing during my senior year, and being initiated by Virginia Stafford, our International Grand President. But the most infamous memory I have is of our pledge retreat in Alvarado. I had to leave Waco later than most everyone else because I had a part-time job on campus. A handful of us who had to leave later in the afternoon rode together to the retreat. I don’t even remember who drove or who was with me. But I do remember that we got completely lost getting to the retreat and we were rather panicked about finding this place in the dark. Of course, this was well before cell phones, Google maps or GPS. I think they were about ready to send out a search party after us, but somehow we found this place and arrived safely.

When did you pledge ADPi? Fall 1980 – Charter Pledge. My initiation date is November 15, 1980.

What do you hope to gain from reconnecting with your ADPi Zeta Chi sisters? I think it would be great to rekindle friendships among ADPi sisters. I’m all about networking, whether it’s for my benefit or to help others.

Share your memories with us

Founders’ Day

Many thanks to the Zeta Chi chapter leaders that put together a wonderful day.  We enjoy lunch, celebrations of sisterhood and an encouraging word from the Alpha Delta Pi International President, Emily Erkel (our own Zeta Chi sister).  She shared some encouraging words about our history and encouraged us to remember that ADPi is about celebrating the best in each of us as we pull together to make a positive difference in the world.

From the Alpha Delta Pi blog, https://alphadeltapiblog.com/2018/04/04/prideofpresidents/,Emily Erkel shares her refections on ADPi’s recent Pride of Presidents Gathering.

“I am still smiling from the Pride of Presidents gathering! This month I joined all eight living former ADPi presidents gathered at Memorial Headquarters for a weekend of filming, reminiscing, and celebrating sisterhood. These women collectively represent 416 years of membership, experience and wisdom. Ginny Stafford’s 72nd anniversary of her ADPi initiation was the Friday we gathered, and we presented her with a proclamation celebrating her service, leadership and impact.

On Saturday we spent the day with collegiate sisters talking on film about the impact and stories of our sisterhood. Fun videos are forthcoming! On Sunday we began the day with a Palm Sunday devotion and then returned to the camera to finish filming. Throughout the weekend we talked about the past, present and future of our sisterhood. These sisters are all in for the future!

During our time together, I learned no matter what your age or leadership experience, it can be stressful to select the right outfit for filming, it is hard to get this group to stick to a schedule, and the ideas never stop flowing! I particularly cherished our individual and group conversations and the robust laughter as stories were shared. It was also very memorable to celebrate my birthday with this group!

I loved being physically connected as we joined hands to sing “I Love the Pin” at the end of the weekend. Looking at each sister in the circle, I felt a great appreciation for the investment each made of themselves as president and the impact they continue to make. Jane Madio reminded me heading into the weekend “we are all shaped by that which came before.” I am honored to have been and continue to be shaped by the sisters in our Pride of Presidents.”
